The Center for Financial Education. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been created as a public research platform and educational service dedicated to eradicating FinPhobia

What is Finphobia? In the world of personal finances, many people are afraid to confront issues they do not understand. They do not know which professionals to consult or even what questions to ask. They become paralyzed and avoid acting at all, or they make self-defeating decisions that negatively impact themselves and their families. We are here to help.

The Center for Financial Education is conducting a series of live, small group panel discussions where the complex world of personal finances is demystified.

Conducted in a non-threatening, user-friendly, supportive environment, our discussion groups aid participants on how to formulate appropriate and critical questions. How to select the professionals they need to assist them with their personal finances. Ultimately, how to take charge.

Different discussions on different nights, our professional panel members answer questions about real life dilemmas in a variety of practice areas, such as divorce and support issues, taxes, elder care or planning for inheritance. Moreover, participants’ questions will contribute to the Center’s Educational Research Program, which is designed to benefit others in overcoming their own FinPhobia to navigate through life’s ever present financial obstacles.

OUR FORUM METHODOLOGY

Over many decades of educating individuals in the area of financial responsibility, there is a story which transcends across all demographics, income and age.

The story is real. The story is glaring. The story has motivated us to start on our mission. Many of us are afraid of confronting something that we do not understand. An analogy would be to confront a dark room filled with dangerous objects and not having the benefit of a flashlight. In the same manner, we have discovered that most of us have a fear of asking financial questions because of not knowing what questions to ask.

FinPhobia. This is a word which we have developed to define this inherent fear. The Center For Financial Education aims at eradicating this Phobia. Our mission strives to develop community confidence through financial awareness and education. When confronted with a financial dilemma, FinPhobiacs find it easier to acquiesce, to give into, to agree, to "just sign the form", rather than question. This lack of "financial backbone" may potentially turn a minor situation into a major negative financial occurrence.

  • Our round table, panel research style, is designed to engage individuals to ask questions in a candid and safe environment about their own real- life financial situations.

  • You can be a contributing participant or just come to listen and observe others. Be inspired and inspire others by tapping into community resources that are around you.

  • Have conversations with people that have similar concerns, needs and questions about topics that worry repeatedly in your mind

  • Have an unbiased conversation with local, industry professionals specific to your needs at The Center for Financial Education,  a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Charity.

Within our session you will be able to:

  • Ask questions personally or pre-submit questions on-line.

  • Learn the questions you should be asking.

  • Develop unique abilities to better understand that by not asking the hard, probing questions, it may affect financial and life outcomes in a negative or positive way.

Our unbiased research model is built upon focusing on six areas of importance in the lives of many people. Feel confident to ask hard questions and not be humiliated, intimidated, nor embarrassed .
